Armin Wagner

Senior Advisor for Sustainable Mobility
GIZ

Since 2021, Armin has served as Senior Advisor for Sustainable Mobility in GIZ's Sectoral Department, providing technical backstopping, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and advisory services across GIZ's mobility portfolio in India, the Western Balkans, the Eastern Partnership region, Africa, Central Asia and Türkiye. From 2013 to 2021, he headed the Sector Project "Sustainable Mobility" and the Global Project "TUMIVolt" at GIZ in Eschborn, Germany, working on SUTP, TUMI and the German Partnership for Sustainable Mobility. In 2011, he headed "Climate-Friendly Mobility in Ukrainian Cities" in Lviv, which kick-started cycling development there.

From 2004 to 2011 and again from 2012 to 2013, Armin worked as a Transport Policy Advisor and Project Manager at GIZ/GTZ, contributing to major rail and intermodal projects in the Middle East, including the Railway Master Plan for Saudi Arabia and Strategic Railway Corridors in the UAE. He began his career with GTZ in Riyadh (2002–2004), supporting the Saudi Arabian National Transportation Plan, after graduating in 2002 from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, in Traffic and Transportation Engineering (Diplom-Verkehrsingenieur).
