Birgit Schwenk is the Head of the Sub-Department for Policy Issues, Economic and Social Affairs, Sustainability and Transport at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Before assuming her present role, she has served as Deputy Director of Climate Action at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and was Deputy Director General for Strategic Aspects of Environmental Policy and Environmental Law at the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Birgit Schwenk studied law and international relations in Freiburg, Edinburgh and Bologna and completed her legal clerkship in Berlin.
