Mrs Liz Jones is the Head of Transport at the UK Government's Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Liz has 30 years' experience working on international development globally in the UK Government, with the last 20 years working on sustainable transport research, policy and implementation, and about half of her career based in partner countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

Liz has held positions on the UK Institution of Civil Engineers' Transport Journal, chaired the Board for the World Bank Global Road Safety Facility, is a founding Board member for Sustainable Mobility for All (SuM4All), sits on the SLOCAT Board, and initiated the UK University Network Transport Research into Practice (TRiP).

Liz's career has focused on sustainable transport research and policy at international and regional levels for the past 20 years. She has worked on transport research and policy programmes at scale in Africa and Asia, with a strong focus on localisation and working in partnership with a variety of stakeholders. Liz is passionate about improving the transport sector globally to harness opportunities for both the benefit of economic growth and poverty reduction, and to tackle the climate crisis from mitigation and resilience perspectives. She works strategically to strengthen data, innovation and evidence across the sector to address partner countries' transport priorities associated with prosperity, a liveable planet and poverty reduction.
