Yitbarek Yitatek K.

Yitatek is a sustainability professional with over 10 years of experience in environmental and climate research and applications. For the past seven years, he has focused on environmental sustainability, with particular expertise in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). His work spans feedstock assessment, sustainability certification, and the development and deployment of SAF across Africa.

He previously served as Regional Manager for Africa at the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB), an international NGO advancing sustainability standards. His key contributions include developing Ethiopia’s SAF roadmap, conducting an ICAO-commissioned feasibility study on SAF development, and delivering training on SAF sustainability for African stakeholders.

Yitatek is a member of the expert group developing policy guidelines for Sustainable Aviation Fuel under the African Union (AU) and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC). He currently works as a regional consultant for RSB and is supporting the development of Togo’s SAF roadmap.
